Going After His Touch

The are two basic types of encounters with God:

God Initiates – Sovereign Touch

We Initiate – Passionate Demand

John 4:46-54  Example of Demand

John 5:1-15 Example of Sovereign Touch

TEXT: 2 Kings5:1-14

4 Principles For Initiating His Touch

I. Hunger Principle

Get to the place of the anointing.

“…Would God my lord were with the prophet …”  vs. 3

You have to leave the familiar.

II. Sacrifice Principle

Come Prepared to give.

“…and took with him ten talents of silver,…” vs. 5

You can not buy the anointing.

How about giving something up?

Repentance … CHANGE!

III. Humility Principle

It demands a surrendered heart.

“So he turned and went away in a rage.”  vs.12

Too many come full of themselves and miss the touch of God.

“The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.”  Pr. 27:7

IV. Obedience Principle

Soak yourself in His Word.

Persist in your saturation.

“…and dipped himself seven times …his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.”  vs.14

You can’t go part of the way.

Some people are just not sick enough of their own self-righteous life.

Keep on dipping. It takes at least seven good soakings to open your heart.

With every dip God is breaking, recreating and forming a vessel for His Glory

Get pickled!!!

The best touches are the ones that you initiate.

You don’t have to wait on God.

He is ready to embrace you over and over again.

“I've never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love!”   Jeremiah 31:3  (Message)
